Agathe You
Reinvented cabinet of curiosities
Agathe You transposes anatomical plates and antique engravings into a world dedicated to haute couture textile sculpture. Her choice of textiles, staging, and embroidery techniques rewrite the history of the cabinet of curiosities with freshness and poetry.
Dragonflies, beetles, and other insects are collected alongside embroidered hands, hearts, or brains, like rare and precious objects. Agathe You draws inspiration from nature, presenting its wondrous, sometimes magical, side.
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Agathe Gizardin-Bertin, also known as Agathe You, trained in haute couture embroidery in Jean-Pierre Ollier’s embellishment workshop in Paris.
