Pablo Elizaga

Lost paradises

Pablo Elizaga’s painting is anchored in the region he adopted 25 years ago: the Basque Country. The beaches of the coast and the fields of Basque pelota offer the ideal setting for scenes where great characters with quiet strength evolve.

What strikes above all are the concentrated and distant faces. Pablo Elizaga not only portrays a carefree era by the sea. He tells of a bygone era through the mirror of our world today. And those frowning glances, in reflection, are a bit ours.

This cross play leaves a strange impression. Self-taught, Pablo Elizaga instinctively tells the story of men and women in search of an ideal, in a world that escapes them.

Pablo Elizaga was born in 1967. He lives and works in Guétary.
